Company For Dinner

Natural hippo tusk art piece featuring African lions feeding on a kill.

This unusual tusk shows growth in the root area indicating the hippo had an abscess or otherwise painful tooth ache. It measures 2 ft. around the curve and stands 18" tall.

Mounted on an amboyna burl base, with both burl and ivory holding it upright, this is a very striking curio.

Not only one of a kind, but a prize winning piece!

Hyenas approach from the rear, flushing guinea fowl in the process. But the King of Beasts isn't worried. He commands respect from all as he makes his presence known.

This tusk took 1st. place in 2003 in the color wildlife division in the Mystic Scrimshanders National Scrimshaw Competition.
